Affordable iPhone Screen Repair Options
Did you crack your iPhone screen? Most of us have been there at some point and you can never really get used to it. Dropping your iPhone and breaking its screen happens more often than most of us think. Did you know that within a year of purchase, 30% of all iPhones will have sustained some form of accidental damage? What’s even more surprising is that more than half of these users will go on to break their phone screens for at least another time before thinking about sending their iPhone for repair.
Damage can happen in many ways – you can drop your phone from your hand, it can slide off your lap while standing up or getting out of the car, knock it off the table or your bed – you really can’t predict how it’s going to get damaged but you can make sure you know how to get it fixed.
We’re here to guide you through different iPhone repair options that you can opt for and get your iPhone to look good as new in no time.
1. Electronics Repair Store
Electronics repair stores can replace your cracked screen at considerably lower rates and probably won’t take as long since you can physically visit the store, unlike in case of an Apple Repair Center where you’ll have to wait for them to ship it back to you, unless you live near an Apple Store. But of course, time required to fix your phone will also depend on the extent of the damage.
Most repair stores will charge you between $50 and $250 for a screen repair but make sure the store you visit has a certified professional to take care of your device and their replacement part should always include a warranty.
The best part about repair stores is that they usually take only an hour or two to complete the process so you don’t even have to wait long to get your phone looking good as new.

2. The Apple Store
Apple has trained technicians who specialize in repairs. They can fix anything from your iPhone to your Apple Watch. iPhone repair is a tricky business and you should only trust people that are trained and certified to do so.
An Apple Authorized Service Provider, the Genius Bar, or an Apple Repair Center are trained technicians that only use Apple’s precision tools and original Apple parts. Your repair will be backed and certified by Apple so in case of any mishaps you can bring it right back to them and they’ll take care of it. Repairs completed by Apple are usually the most expensive and time consuming. They also do not fix all types of issues, like an electronics repair store can. You also must remember that it is in their best interest to sell you a new phone.

Do you have an AppleCare+ plan?
As you can see, repairing your iPhone through Apple can be pricey. If you have an AppleCare+ plan, you can use it to cover screen repair. AppleCare+ gives you expert technical support and hardware coverage from Apple, including accidental damage protection. Each incident of accidental damage is subject to a service fee or deductible, depending on your plan. If you don’t have an AppleCare+ plan, you’ll have to pay the out-of-warranty fee. You’ll want to calculate the monthly fees and deductibles to see if an AppleCare plan is worth it for you.
3. Do a DIY iPhone Repair
Do you often find yourself taking on DIY projects and fixing things around the house? Then this option is for you. Fixing your iPhone screen yourself is no doubt cost effective and can make you feel loads better than paying the extra money, but it comes with its set of risks.
First of all you’ll have to buy a new screen and if that isn’t available at a store near you then you’ll have to order one online which makes it more difficult to verify the quality. A screen is going to cost you $30 to $250 depending on which iPhone you’re fixing and you’ll need a kit and additional spare parts to go with that. All in all you might end up spending over $300.
Experimenting with your broken iPhone also means rendering your warranty void and if you damage it further you’re looking at a massive blow to your pockets. There are tons of YouTube videos that can help you through it but make sure you don’t go overboard and know when it’s time to hand your phone over to a professional.
We recommend going for this option only if you’re confident in your ability or don’t have any other options at your disposal.
A broken screen can also lead to other problems like a damaged digitizer or a distorted earpiece rendering your phone useless. It is best to get it fixed as soon as possible to avoid causing any further damage to your phone.
