With the iPhone 15 Pro Max release, we are introduced to Apple’s most powerful SoC yet: The A17 Pro.
The A17 Bionic is significantly better than last year’s A16 Bionic which was already the best mobile phone chipset. The A17 provides better performance and efficiency than its predecessor. Apple says the GPU on the A17 is the best ever on a smartphone, and now supports hardware-based Ray tracing. The A17 is made on TSMC’s cutting-edge 3 nm node so you can expect supreme battery efficiency, sustained high-level performance, etc.
Battery Life and Charging Speed
As of the time of writing we are yet to confirm the battery capacity of the iPhone 15 Pro Max as Apple doesn’t release those details to the public. However, recent rumors suggest that the battery is a 4852mAh cell. No matter what the actual capacity turns out to be, you can be sure that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have great battery life.
Charging speed is one of the areas where the iPhone 15 Pro Max still falls behind its counterparts. Again this is not confirmed, but rumors have said that the speed is either still the same as before or it’s now around 30-30W.
Still on charging, this year Apple finally listened (or was forcefully coerced) into using USB Type-C on the iPhone. 8 years after its Android counterparts adopted better charging technology, Apple has finally joined the bandwagon. The design of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is basically the same as last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max, with the Dynamic island and triple rear cameras. But there’s a slight twist on the frames this year.
Another design aspect that has changed with the iPhone 15 Pro Max release is the Mute Switch. That’s right, with this update, Apple has buried the beloved Mute switch with a new and completely customizable Action button. You’ll be able to make the new action button do things like set the button to record a voice memo, launch the camera etc.
